Our Commitment to Authenticity

At Shimmer & Shawls, we are committed to offering authentic luxury handbags, accessories, jewelry, and designer goods with transparency, confidence, and exceptional customer service.

Every luxury item offered for sale is carefully inspected prior to listing. We stand behind the authenticity of every item we sell and take great care in evaluating each piece before it becomes available to our customers.

Our goal is to provide customers with a trusted shopping experience while offering authentic designer pieces at exceptional value.

Third-Party Authentication

To provide additional peace of mind, many of our higher-value luxury items include independent third-party authentication.

As a general practice, luxury handbags and accessories with a selling price of $500 or more will include a Certificate of Authenticity (COA) or third-party authentication report. Select items below this price point may also include authentication at our discretion.

Authentication providers may include Entrupy, Real Authentication, LegitGrails, or other recognized luxury authentication experts.

When authentication is included, the authentication provider and any accompanying documentation will be clearly disclosed within the product listing.

Not every item will include a third-party authentication certificate. The absence of a COA does not indicate an item is inauthentic. We stand behind the authenticity of every item we sell regardless of whether third-party authentication documentation is provided.

How We Source

At Shimmer & Shawls, we are selective about the items we offer and the sources from which we acquire them.

Our sourcing process may include:

Working with established suppliers, luxury wholesalers, consignment partners, and trusted industry sources
Evaluating the provenance, condition, and authenticity indicators of each item before it is offered for sale
Reviewing supporting documentation when available, including receipts, authenticity certificates, and original accessories
Maintaining records and documentation for the items we carry whenever possible
Obtaining independent third-party authentication for select luxury items in accordance with our authentication practices

Not every item will include original documentation; however, every luxury item is carefully evaluated before being added to our collection.

Pre-Owned Luxury Goods

Unless otherwise stated, luxury items sold by Shimmer & Shawls are pre-owned.

Pre-owned items may display signs of wear consistent with age, storage, and prior use. We make every effort to provide accurate descriptions and detailed photographs to help customers evaluate each item's condition.

While we strive for complete transparency, condition assessments are subjective and may vary from person to person. We encourage customers to carefully review all photographs, descriptions, and measurements before making a purchase.

Product photographs are considered part of the item's description.

Condition Guide

New with Tags (NWT)

Brand-new item with original tags attached.

New Without Tags (NWOT)

Brand-new item without original retail tags.

Excellent Pre-Owned Condition

Minimal signs of wear with no significant flaws noted.

Very Good Pre-Owned Condition

Light signs of wear consistent with gentle use.

Good Pre-Owned Condition

Visible signs of wear that do not affect functionality.

Fair Pre-Owned Condition

Noticeable wear and imperfections consistent with extensive use.

Condition ratings are provided as a general reference and should not replace a thorough review of the item's photos and description.

Measurements

Measurements are taken by hand and are approximate. Minor variations may occur.

Customers are responsible for reviewing measurements prior to purchase to ensure the item meets their individual needs and expectations.

For certain new, new-with-tags (NWT), or current-season items, stock photographs, manufacturer images, lifestyle images, modeled images, or digitally enhanced images may be used to showcase style, fit, or functionality.

When applicable, actual photographs of the item will also be included within the listing whenever possible.
